TRAVEL INSURANCE: We strongly encourage you to purchase travel insurance within two weeks of your deposit. Deposits are non-transferable and non-refundable, and we are unable to amend our cancellation policy for any reason. You are free to choose the insurer that suits you. Once you have purchased insurance, please provide us with your policy numbers so that we can assist you in case you need to file a claim. Considerations: Coverage for pre-existing conditions is generally NOT included if you purchase a policy more than 2 weeks after making a deposit, so it’s always best to get a policy as soon as possible. Even if there are unfinished details such as flights or additional services, buy the policy now and adjust it later. Our deposits are non-refundable and non-transferable, and additional cancellation fees are imposed from 90 days before departure. The insurance covers your investment even before your departure! During the trip, you will be in beautiful, remote destinations; even minor injuries like a sprained ankle or a simple fall may require a medical evacuation costing up to $30,000. Make sure to have your itinerary handy to ask the travel insurance agent what the best coverage is for you. We also recommend purchasing local coverage to coordinate local medical evacuations and supplement your travel insurance. See below for more details.

PURCHASE MEDICAL EVACUATION INSURANCE: We highly recommend purchasing local coverage to coordinate local medical evacuations during your stay in Tanzania. This works in addition to your travel insurance and does not replace it. This allows any evacuation to occur more quickly and efficiently, using local services instead of waiting for pre-approvals from your provider. The Flying Doctors (Maisha Short Term Silver Plan) or Arusha Medivac (Tourist Plan) offer excellent options for less than $25.
